The Oklahoma Brain Tumor Foundation (OKBTF) is proud to announce our annual “Swing for Hope” charity golf tournament will now officially be the Bobby Murcer Memorial Swing for Hope Charity Golf Classic, in honor of Bobby Murcer and the Murcer family’s commitment to supporting brain tumor and child cancer families.  A five-time All Star in his 18 years in the majors, and a three-time Emmy Award winning New York Yankees broadcaster for 24 years, Bobby was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2006 and passed away just 19 months later.

Kay Murcer and the Murcer family will be on hand at the event June 9th along with many of Bobby’s friends and celebrities, including Goose Gossage.  A Yankee favorite and Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher, Gossage was one of the Yankees’ top relievers and played with the 1978 World Champion team.    Event Chairman is Oklahoma’s favorite meteorologist Gary England, one of Bobby’s closest friends.  England, local celebrities Kevin Bookout, Willie Wood and others will be among the participants.

“Our family is honored to have the event take on Bobby’s name and to continue his quest to support the wonderful programs of the Oklahoma Brain Tumor Foundation, which provide hope for so many families.  Thanks to our many friends who plan to participate... I know together we can make a difference in the lives of others,” said Kay Murcer.
