2014 Bobby Murcer Memorial Swing for Hope
The Oklahoma Brain Tumor Foundation (OKBTF) is proud to announce our annual “Swing for Hope” charity golf tournament will now officially be the Bobby Murcer Memorial Swing for Hope Charity Golf Classic, in honor of Bobby Murcer and the Murcer family’s commitment to supporting brain tumor and child cancer families. A five-time All Star in his 18 years in the majors, and a three-time Emmy Award winning New York Yankees broadcaster for 24 years, Bobby was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2006 and passed away just 19 months later.
The Tournament is scheduled for June 9th and will be hosted by Oak Tree Country Club. Registration for the four-man scramble will begin at 11:30, with a shotgun start at 1:00 pm. The event will conclude with the 19th Hole Cocktail Party and Auction, providing food, fun and more opportunities to support programs and services for cancer families.
Registration is $300 for individuals and $1,200 per team, and includes green fee and cart, gifts and prizes, lunch and 19th Hole Party. Team sponsorships start at $1,500 and a variety of individual and corporate sponsorship levels are available. Register & pay on-line by clicking here!
Kay Murcer and the Murcer family will be on hand at the event June 9th along with many of Bobby’s friends and celebrities, including Goose Gossage. A Yankee favorite and Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher, Gossage was one of the Yankees’ top relievers and played with the 1978 World Champion team. Event Chairman is Oklahoma’s favorite meteorologist Gary England, one of Bobby’s closest friends. England, local celebrities Kevin Bookout, Willie Wood and others will be among the participants.
